It's punk-rock documented in all its glory in this fabulous chronicle of the happenings at CBGB & OMFUG, the dingy, legendary music hangout in Manhattan's East Village. My photos include - Liz Phair, David Bryne,  G Love and Special Sauce, Royal Trux and Everclear. pub.2005

With photos of all the contributors to the album. Shot at Ryman Hall in Nashville.
An A-list of musically diverse acolytes surrounds the venerable country icon on this concert recording, which pays richer dividends than its studio-album predecessor, The Great Divide. Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Vince Gill, Keith Richards help celebrate one of the richest legacies in American music. Ryan Adams, and Hank Williams III on "Dead Flowers" romps all over the Rolling Stones' original, while the duet with mentor Ray Price, shows a sense of history too often missing from such demographic-driven projects. Other highlights include the sweet-voiced balladry of Jones on "Lonestar" and a luminous rendition of "Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain" by Gill. Toby Keith and Matchbox Twenty appear on the album as well as Jon Bon Jovi.

From the liner notes ; Whitfield has delivered on the promise he showed ten years ago, when his chief inspiration, George Benson, helped bring him to national attention. Equally versed in commercial soul-jazz and straight-ahead, he has always moved effortlessly back and forth between subgenres. The perfectly titled Raw leans hardcore towards the latter; it's a live five song recording featuring Whitfield and his quartet of pianist Robert Glasper, bassist Brandon Owens, and drummer Donald Edwards. The date was recorded at the world famous Iridium on Manhattan's Upper West Side and tiny Zinc bar on the Greenwich Village/Soho border.
